Intelligent robots have shown what they can do

Dynamic presentation of robots by PIAP

On the second day of the MSPO exhibition, the Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) in Warsaw staged a special dynamic presentation to put on public display its tactical throwable robot TRM, as well as the small reconnaissance robot SCOUT.

TRM is a small robotic device designed to provide counter-terrorist operation support. The development of this robot was a response to the risks involved in the inspection of challenging environments conducted before special force operations are launched. TRM’s main body is equipped with a camera and microphone, in addition to two excellently suspended rubber wheels installed on both sides. This device can be thrown into a facility to be inspected or moved to an outdoor area from a long distance and, being remotely controlled, provide real-time intelligence. With its special design, the robot can withstand drops of considerable heights.

The main purpose of SCOUT is to perform a quick inspection of outdoor areas as well as confined spaces, e.g.: undercarriages of vehicles, spaces under seats, shafts, ventilation ducts. SCOUT features a hybrid moving assembly consisting of a caterpillar and wheels, though the wheels can be removed whenever necessary. Its solid construction of small dimensions and low weight, in addition to its dynamic drive system, guarantees high maneuverability and speed (10 km/h). The application of this robot can be multiplied by mounting additional devices on its mobile base: manipulator with a grip, cameras, additional front caterpillars, handle and cabling for recoilless disrupter, digital devices and cabling used for recording the operation, as well as contamination detector, X-ray device, and fibre-optic cable with an active automatic roller.

This equipment will be on display at the stand of the Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) D28 until Thursday.
