The Provincial School Chess Tournament organised by the Kielce Regional Chief Education Officer was held on 22-23 October at the Targi Kielce’s Congress Centre
The competition was based on the Swiss system principle with the computer system for opponent selection. The tournament was the competition arena for 399 young chess players who competed in three age groups: I-III and IV-VIII of primary school pupils and secondary schools pupils.
Michał Choina, 4th grader, a student of automotive technology class in Vocational and Continuing Education Centrein Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski came first in the boys category of secondary schools. In his category he competed with 46 other players. The champion of the II Provincial School Chess Tournament scored 7 winning rounds.
-Michał is one of the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski’s "Hetman" Chess Association best players. He is a four-time gold medal winner at the Polish Championships, European Champion in Rapid Chess in the 1600 ELO category, 11-time gold medallist of the Province’s Junior Championships, a winner of many national and international tournaments. For three years he has successfully represented the school at the Chess Tournament for the Staroste of the Ostrowiec Poviat Cup - says the CKZiU director Mr. Marcin Sitarz.
The II Provincial School Chess Tournament was a part of this year Exhibition of Technology and Education Equipment.
